A Bucket List Guaranteed to Keep Your Retirement Interesting

Climbing Mount Everest or swimming the English Channel might be a bit much for most of us.

On the other hand, completing a million-piece jigsaw puzzle or rebuilding a car engine might not be all that exciting.

In his book, The Great Bucket List: 3,000 things To Do Before You Die,Tal Gur’s suggestions range from ambitious to just plain fun. Here’s a sampling (try them at your own risk of course):

  • Go to the airport and take a random flight
  • Be a game show contestant
  • Take a nap in a furniture store
  • Stick your toes in each of the Great Lakes
  • Try a food you can’t pronounce
  • Walk on stilts
  • Watch 26 movies you’ve never seen, each starting with a different letter of the alphabet
  • Go a whole day pretending you don’t speak English
  • Visit 100 wineries
  • Participate in a bull run in Spain
  • Own your own comic shop
  • Spend a night in a ridiculously expensive hotel
  • Mush a dog sled
  • Kick in a door
  • Make an important decision with a coin toss
  • Light a cigar with a $100 bill
  • Kiss a frog
  • Jump out of a cake
  • Stand on a busy sidewalk holding a sign saying “Talk to Me About Anything”
  • Hang your Christmas tree upside down
  • Attend a Beard & Mustache Competition
  • Jump in a pool fully clothed
  • Get a secret tattoo
  • Eat every edible fruit in the world
  • Drink a $200 bottle of wine
  • Cross Abbey Road Crosswalk in London
  • Go ice fishing
  • Crash a party
  • Become ambidextrous
  • Give a $100 tip
  • Go on a submarine ride
  • Hold a baby chick

The possibilities are limitless. Whatever ends up on your own bucket list, your association and Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA) can offer the benefits and discounts that help you keep living life your way.

Lastly, as Gur suggests, “Share your bucket list with family and friends.” Comment below about what’s on your bucket list, and share this post with other members of your association.
