Ever noticed how people with poor eyesight tend to thrust their head forward in order to see or read? With the human adult skull weighing about 10 pounds, that’s a lot of strain on the neck and shoulders and, over time, we can end up like Quasimodo.
That’s reason enough to have your eyes checked regularly. A vision plan from your association and AMBA can save you hundreds of dollars on exams and eyewear, not to mention your overall health and quality of life.
Other vision tips for better posture:
• Look ahead more, down less. Avoid “text neck.”
• To see to the side, turn your neck and body as well as your eyes.
• If you’re sitting, get up at least every twenty minutes and walk, taking in your entire surroundings. If you’re not ambulatory, move whatever you can to see as much as you can.
As a famous optometrist once said, “How we see is how we be.”
